Quito Romell and Perrira Marcel gave Honduras a two goal lead inside the first half, Sofiane Bendebka brought one back for the Desert Foxes. However Antony Lozano made things difficult by scoring the third for Honduras. Baghdad Bounedjah scored the second goal with five minutes left till the end of the match however it all ended in a defeat.
It was a fairly quite start to the game, with both goalkeepers not having much to do inside the first 10 minutes.
Algeria came very close to scoring the opening goal in the 11th minute, Baghdad Bounedjah dribbled his way past two defenders, however the shot was saved by Luis Lopez.
It was then that things started to go downhill for the Algeria squad as they conceded in the 12th minute after Farid Chaal did very well on the initial save, but Quioto Romell was able to score on the rebound.
In the 30th minute Algeria’s Captain Ryad Kheniche had to be stretchered off after suffering an injury.
Things got worse when Marcelo Perreira scored a powerful header after a good delivery from a free kick in 33rd minute.
At the start of the second half, Bounedjah came very close to scoring in a matter of seconds and Algeria had two goals ruled offside.
Algeria made their second substitution of the match in the 59th minute, Abderrahmane Meziane came on for Mohammed Benkablia
In the 60th minute there was a great chance for Bounedjah to score in a one on one, but he was unable keep his shot down.
Meziane had a great chance to score in the 64th minute, his header however ended up going high over the crossbar.
Algeria managed to get the goal in the 68th minute. An excellent knock on by Bounedjah found Sofiane Bendebka, who then with a powerful header put it into the back of the net.
The Desert Foxes made a second substitution, Oussama Darfalou came on for Rachid Ait Atmane.
In the 79th minute Antony Lozano scored, after goalkeeper Chaal made a huge error inside his area. Only a few seconds later Bendebka had his header blocked off the line.
Algeria brought one back again, with five minutes left of the match, Bounedjah with a great chested touch and a tidy finish put it past the Honduras goal stopper.
Algeria carried on to press the Honduras defence and came very close after a Demmou’s header was nervously saved by the keeper.
A highly entertaining match from a neutral point but Algeria would have felt slightly disappointed as their next match is on Sunday 7th August against Argentina at 22:00 GMT.
