The Algerian Paralympic Delegation were welcomed back home as heroes and have been honoured for their achievements at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The delegation arrived back in Algiers, the Algerian capital, on Wednesday 8 September, where they were collected by a decorated bus from Houari Boumediene International airport.

Text on the bus (pictured above) translated to ‘Proud of the Algerian Champions” followed by the numbers “1 2 3” decorated in the gold, silver and bronze medals and lastly “long live Algeria”.
The celebrations continued till the very next day where the President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, personally honoured the Algerian champions.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune distributed gifts to the medallists, in addition to significant financial rewards.
This celebration, initiated by the President of Algeria, towards this category of Algerian athletes, comes as recognition of their efforts, and as an encouragement to them to continue working hard to raise the national flag on the international stage.
