Algeria were unable to end their qualifying campaign on a win after they were held to a one-all draw against Gambia at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium.
Algeria dominated the first half in Blida, with Adam Ounas and Mahdi Abeid testing early on the Gambian goalkeeper.
However, it wasn’t until three minutes before the break when Abeid broke the deadlock, following a clever pass into the box from Empoli’s Ismael Bennacer, which was followed by a brilliant finish from Abeid.
The Desert Foxes continued the domination into the second half and it wasn’t until the 72nd minute when Gambia registered their first shot on target.
The hosts did not take these chances with caution and were punished in the second minute of stoppage time as Danso scored following a defensive mistake.
Algeria’s next match will be against Tunisia in a friendly on Tuesday 26 March.
