#AFCON2017: Algeria vs Senegal Match Preview

Algeria have a huge task to complete if they want to make it to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations as they have to beat Senegal and hope that other results go their way.

The Desert Foxes are currently 3rd in Group B with just one point, after drawing with Zimbabwe and losing to North African rivals Tunisia.

To qualify, Algeria have to beat Senegal and hope that Zimbabwe beat Tunisia to have any chance of qualification, which would setup a potential quarter-final with Burkina Faso.

Manager Georges Leekens is expected to make a number of changes for the match that takes place on Tuesday the 23rd of January at 7pm (UK)/8pm (DZ).

Malik Asselah will start in goal, due to the injury sustained by Rais M’Bolhi. Rami Bensebaini and Hilal Soudani will also miss out. Sofiane Hanni and Mehdi Abeid are expected to be given their first starts of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Adlene Guedioura could start at centre-back, although the manager could opt for Liassine Cadamuro.

Senegal have already won the group and are likely to rest a lot of their star players, meaning Algeria may not have to go up against star names such as Cheikhou Kouyate and Sadio Mane.

Algeria beat Senegal 2-0 in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in their final group match two years ago and will be looking to do the same this time around.

Senegal vs Algeria is live on Eurosport UK and Bein Sports, and Algeria will play in their green jersey.
