Algerians in Europe: 21st-22nd August

England – Premier League:

Adlene Guedioura played 89 minutes in Watford’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Saturday in the Premier League. The Hornets were first to take the lead and it was the Algerian who assisted Étienne Capoue.

Riyad Mahrez showed a great display for Leicester and nearly got the winner in the dying minutes of the match against Arsenal. However the match ended 0-0.

Sofiane Feghouli watched from the stands West Ham’s first home game victory against Bournemouth. The Hammers are currently struggling with injuries, Feghouli being one of them.

Nabil Bentaleb is looking close to making a move to German club Schalke. Spurs coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has not got the young Algerian in his plans for next season, making it likely for the Bentaleb to move soon.

Portugal – Liga NOS

Yacine Brahimi did not start for Porto, which is a sign that he is probably on his way out of Portugal. There are currently speculations that he could be making a move very shortly to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Everton trying to get their hands on the Algerian international.

Islam Slimani played the full 90 mintes in Sporting’s 1-0 win away at Pacos de Ferreira.

Belgium – Pro League

In the Belgian League, Sofiane Hanni played the full 90 minutes for Anderlecht in their 2-2 draw away against Eupen.

Idriss Saadi scored twice for Kortrijk giving them the 2-1 victory against Club Brugge.

Italy – Serie A

Faouzi Ghoulam played a difficult full 90 minutes for Napoli as they managed to come back from two goals down to drawing 2-2 away to Pescara.

Saphir Taider played the full 90 minutes in Bologna’s 1-0 win vs Crotone.

France – Ligue 1

Ryad Boudebouz suffered alongside his team, Montpellier, with a 3-1 defeat away to Saint-Etienne. The Algerian played in the whole match.

Everton have also got their eye on Lyon’s Rachid Ghezzal, who looks ever likely to move away from the Ligue 1 side. West Ham and Southampton have also shown their interest for the Algerian.

Spain – La Liga

Aissa Mandi played the full 90 minutes against FC Barcelona, where they suffered a defeat of 6-2 against the Catalan giants.
